Summary Report | Conference: Trust in a Connected World: Challenges and Opportunities

The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has published a summary report of the conference "Trust in a Connected World: Challenges and Opportunities", held on 25 June 2026 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta.

The event brought together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and experts to explore how trust is built, sustained and challenged across today's interconnected digital, online and postal ecosystems. Discussions spanned three core themes: connectivity and infrastructure resilience, trust in online platforms and digital identity, and reliability in postal and parcel fulfilment.

Sessions examined how connectivity has evolved into an invisible layer underpinning nearly every aspect of daily life, the growing challenges around transparency and accountability on digital platforms, and how trust is ultimately tested at the point of delivery, where digital promises are converted into real-world outcomes. Throughout the event, live audience polling captured participants' perceptions of where trust is strongest, where it is most fragile, and what will be needed to strengthen it going forward; themes that included data protection, AI-enabled scams, transparency and stronger cross-sector cooperation.

The report includes summaries of the opening addresses, panel discussions, audience poll results and concluding observations, along with speaker biographies and the full conference agenda.
