Review of GO plc's application for funding of the net cost claimed to have been incurred to provide universal service obligations during 2017, Decision Notice

In September 2021, the MCA published a consultation on the review of GO plc’s application for funding of the net cost it claimed to have incurred during 2017 to provide universal service obligations. The assessment of the claim included an audit carried out by an independent body specifically engaged to analyse the calculations submitted by GO plc on the various universal services provided. The claim also took into consideration intangible benefits which was deducted from the total net cost. Following the review exercise, it was established that the designated undertaking incurred an unfair burden amounting to a net cost of €76,659. During the consultation period, the MCA received feedback from Melita Ltd and its views are included in the Decision Notice. The allocation of the source of funding relating to GO plc's USO claim for 2017 is being addressed in a separate consultation document earmarked for publishing following the publication of this decision.
