MCA Decision concerning the wholesale market for the provision of dedicated capacity in Malta
The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) is hereby publishing its decision concerning the definition and competitive assessment of the wholesale market concerning the provision of dedicated capacity in Malta. Given the findings on competition dynamics in the market under investigation, the MCA considers that ex ante regulatory intervention is no longer required. The MCA will therefore withdraw the regulatory remedies that currently apply on GO, by way of the SMP designation imposed on this operator as outlined in the MCA Decision concerning high-quality access and connectivity published in 2017. This decision follows a consultation exercise carried out with stakeholders between the 30th of September and the 1st of November 2022. The MCA took into account the submissions made to this consultation and notified the relevant draft measure to the European Commission, to the body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), and to the national regulatory authorities in other Member States at the same time. The European Commission registered the notified draft measure as Case MT/2022/2420.
