Public stakeholder workshop on the postal sector

Location: Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Breydel Auditorium, Av d’Auderghem 45, 1040 Brussels

Stakeholders are invited to a 1-day workshop hosted by the European Commission. This will be an opportunity to provide input to the ongoing study on user needs in the postal sector and the evaluation of the postal services directive.

The aims of this study are

  • to present changing user needs in the postal sector, and possible adaptations, including on the sustainability of the universal service obligation
  • to analyse and evaluate the adequacy of the EU postal regulatory framework

The workshop will begin with a presentation and discussion of first study findings, based on the surveys and interviews undertaken so far.

After that, the objectives of the workshop are

  • to obtain input from stakeholders on future user needs
  • to obtain input from stakeholders for the assessment of the postal services directive or selected elements of the directive

Attendees will be able to exchange views on these important developments and on the way forward. This information gathering will be done in the form of panel debates, moderated by WIK-Consult, and allow for active public participation.

The Commission will also provide some updates on ongoing files.

The workshop will take place from 9.30 - 15.30 (CET).

The draft agenda is available and an updated agenda will be published by mid-May.
