The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has organized the first meeting of the 5G Think Tank on Thursday 20th June 2019 at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. The 5G Think Tank consists of experts from the Mobile Network Operators and the vertical industries, who had expressed their interest in response to MCA’s invitation published earlier this year.
Whilst adhering to the MCA’s remit, which safeguards end-user rights and encourages competition, the MCA presented a focused view on the international developments in 5G pilots and business models.
The first meeting introduced the technical capabilities and some economic considerations of 5G and its use cases. The 5G Think Tank exchanged views on opportunities, expectations, challenges and uncertainty.
Attendees were invited to submit their feedback on the currently open public consultation on “5G Demand and Future Business Models towards a feasible 5G Deployment”.
