On the 19th April 2021, the MCA published a Call for Expression of Interest for the Assignment of Spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band (MCA/O/21-4179). GO plc, Melita Limited, and Epic Communications Limited have expressed their interest in order to obtain access to the rights of use for radio frequencies in this band. Given that the demand for this spectrum, as expressed in the response to the Call for Expression of Interest, did not exceed the amount of spectrum available, the MCA shall proceed with the assignment of the 3.6 GHz spectrum directly to the interested candidates through the assignment process defined in the relevant Decision (MCA/D/21-4177). Those candidates who have expressed interest in acquiring rights of use in the 3.6 GHz band will now be invited to submit information relevant to the Qualification Phase. The MCA will assess whether the individual candidates are suitably qualified for a grant for the rights of use, based on a set of criteria as defined in the Request for Information (RFI), to be published imminently. Failure by an interested candidate to submit the requested information on time or failure to pass the individual Qualification Phase assessment will result in discarding the Expression of Interest of the relevant candidate.
