Accounts Clerk

Prime focus of position 

The Accounts Clerk will be responsible for carrying out clerical and administrative duties in relation to accounting and book-keeping processes. The selected candidate will also provide assistance to the Accountant in the execution of operational and administrative support to the organisation. 

Responsibilities 

  • Review of all supplier invoices for appropriate documentation and approval
  • Issue payment runs and perform supplier reconciliations 
  • Process credit or debit card expense reports and perform reconciliations
  • Regular bank and cash reconciliations, cash flow maintenance and analysis, ensuring that any irregularities are reported immediately 
  • Recording of transactions in the accounting system and maintaining accounting records
  • Working and issuing of revenue invoices including liaising with related undertakings as required
  • Maintaining and updating the assets inventory whilst ensuring that appropriate Asset Management procedures are adhered to 
  • Maintaining an accurate filing system in accordance with MCA’s filing policy and procedures 
  • Prepare routine letters and other correspondence as instructed 
  • Ensuring adherence with the MCA’s financial / internal controls and procedures 
  • Assistance and participation in monthly reporting and collating of data for reporting requirements 
  • Assistance in the compilation and monitoring of budgets 
  • Assistance in procurement, travel processes and organise meetings and appointments as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller

Accountability

  • Accurate and up-to-date accounting and cash flow information 
  • Adherence to procurement, travel and other policies and procedures, ensuring related requests are dealt with in a timely manner 
  • Ensuring revenue items and related tasks are taken care of responsibly 
  • Effective and timely reporting

Key Selection Criteria

  • Advanced level in Accounting or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to those candidates having experience or to those seeking professional qualifications in accountancy ex: ACCA
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills
  • Organisational capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate as a member of team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on own initiative
  • Proficient in the use of Information Technology, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
