On Wednesday 30th November 2011, the MCA hosted the first edition of the MCA eBusiness Awards at the Radisson Bay Point Resort, St Julian’s.

The awards are aimed at acknowledging unique and innovative local ideas and initiatives in the use of web-based technologies and eBusiness for businesses and society at large.
The success of this first edition was mainly due to the interest shown which was reflected in the high number of nominations received – 36 in total. Speaking on the event, Executive Chairman of the MCA, Ing. Philip Micallef spoke of how this “is just another initiative built on the MCA’s strong belief that the experts out there are none other than the businesses themselves”. He stressed that from the solutions showcased during the event “innovation, creativity and success are also a reality. The least we can do is to learn from other business’s success by showcasing these initiatives through fora such as this.”

The adjudication was conducted by an independent committee comprising representatives from industry, Government and academia which assessed each nominated solution against criteria on which the committee based its final judgements. During the final ceremony the shortlisted solutions were presented and the winners under each category were announced.
